Let Nature Be Your Guide

Essential oils are powerful and concentrated plant essences distilled from the flowers, leaves, fruit, seed, and bark of plants, and just one tiny drop can have noticeable health benefits.  The distilled essence of most plants has been shown to carry anti-microbial, antiviral, and antibiotic properties. When you use essential oils, you are harnessing a plant’s protective and healing powers: no pills and no nasty side effects.

Why do they work? Essential oils are composed of tiny molecules that can penetrate your cells; some essential oils compounds can even cross the blood-brain barrier.

The American Medical Association (AMA)  said if they could find an agent that would pass the blood-brain barrier, they could find cures for ailments such as Lou Gehrig’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease. Such agents already exist and have been available since Biblical times. There are over 500 references to essential oils in the Bible.

Not all oils are created equally.  Because of a lack of industry standards and regulation on terms such as “natural” or “pure,” much of what you find may not be an organic essential oil and may lack real quality or even contain contaminants or pollutants. You can rest assured – we only offer you the finest quality organic essential oils.

Essential oils are generally used in four ways:

Aromatically

Topically

Internally

Aromatically

The aromatic application is the most widely known and used.

Essential oils are processed by the olfactory bulb and the limbic system, the same system that processes thoughts, memories, and emotions, which can help us feel calm, encouraged, and stress-free.

And the positive compounds and their properties, once within our bloodstream, can encourage our immune system response or promote well-being in many ways.

This is because the “aroma” you breathe is actually a fine mist or vapor of the oil, containing all the same properties of the oil itself.

Here’s how to use our essential oils with aromatic applications:

Direct Inhalation: Directly inhaling the oil can be done by holding the bottle of essential oil a few inches from the nose, breathing in the aroma, or adding a drop to your hands and cupping them over the mouth and nose.

Indirect Inhalation: Adding a drop to a handkerchief, cotton ball, small square of fabric, shirt collar, hair, pillowcase, etc., can all be beneficial. You can try this with Lavender to encourage a calming effect before sleep.

How to Use Essential Oils Topically

All our oils and blends are pre-blended with the proper amount of carrier oil to make them skin safe. You can use them as is.

If you use other brands, regardless of what they may suggest, never use without diluting them to avoid potential skin allergies and sensitivities.

Those with sensitive skin, children, and older adults should do a patch test before use.

If you’re pregnant or nursing, use more caution or talk to your naturopathic doctor. Avoid for children and pets.

Here are some other topical precautions to consider:

Citrus oils, and a few others, can cause a sensitivity to the sun. Avoiding sunlight for at least 12 hours after applying topically is recommended.

Here’s how to use essential oils in some of the most popular topical applications:

In a Massage: Massage is one of the most enjoyable ways to use essential oils topically. Massaging the oils into joints, muscles, and tissues is relaxing and beneficial.

Over the Area of Concern: The next option is to apply the oils to the chest, abdomen, back of the neck, or directly over the area of concern. You can also apply to the energy centers of the body.

Hot or Cold Compresses: Soak a cloth or towel in cool water with drops of one of our pre-diluted essential oils to place over the area of concern –  Or wrap the cloth/towel in a hot water bottle to use as a warm compress. (Oils for muscles and joints and a cool or warm compress on the muscles are amazing.)

How to Use Essential Oils Internally

Important: Not all essential oils can be used internally, nor should all people use them this way. The FDA has listed certain essential oils as “Generally Recognized as Safe” for internal use. Although our essential oils are of therapeutic grade – we do not recommend internal use until you speak with your naturopathic physician or other trusted health advisors.

Do not ingest essential oils unless prescribed by your health care provider and certified aromatherapist. Although many people do ingest essential oils, the purpose of this website does not promote them.

Some individuals are sensitive, and direct contact or high levels of certain oils may cause reactions, sensitivity, and photosensitivity.

Use caution if you take blood pressure medications, have an existing heart condition, or take blood thinners. Always talk to your doctor before beginning any new treatment.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor first.

Some oils are not safe for children or pets – especially cats. Keep essential oils away from infants, children, and all pets for everyone’s safety. Always review with your physician or veterinarian before use.

Most often, using essential oils is a safe and inexpensive way to help promote healing, relaxation, and well-being without adverse side effects.
